Corbu have an eerie command over minimal melodies and almost imperceptible instrumentation. 'Promise Me' is the sort of song that requires your undivided attention, and it won't disappoint. Everything gets called 'dreamy' nowadays (often by me), but 'Promise Me' is actually a very concrete, intricate piece of music. Everything about this song is delicate, acute, but it's not in a haze - it's more solid than that. Both this song and 'Neon Hallway' (see below) are taken from their forthcoming EP, Everything You Imagine Is Real.
The concept for this 'Promise Me' video was written by Corbu, but based off the poem "The Tibetan Book of the Dead for Reading Aloud," by Jean-Claude van Itallie. The video itself was made in close collaboration between Robert Crispe and Jonathan Graves (Corbu front man), who apparently emailed visual ideas back and forth daily.
