MAUI Recommends

Our lovely Fresh Flesh bands have been recommending some pretty amazing music for you over the past two months. Here's the first of many round ups of who the bands you love... love.

Our first ever Fresh Fleshers were Kingston band, Maui who pledged allegiance to the mellow and experimental side of Blur for their choice of past favourite, namely 'Caramel' from the 1999 album, 13.

Their choice of current jam stayed on the easygoing side of things with lo-fi Canadian musician Mac DeMarco and his latest album Salad Days.

DeMarco seems to have sunshine and rolling riffs oozing from every pore - it's pretty addictive stuff. Check out 'Let Her Go' and 'Treat Her Better'.

Maui also mentioned Warpaint's self-titled latest album (I don't know about you, but we're getting a pretty clear profile of their tastes here).

With a much more jam-focussed sound, Warpaint's second album has a minimalistic and intricate charm. The big single was 'Love Is To Die', but also check out 'Disco//very' and 'CC' for a cross-section of the album's contrasts.

As far as their prediction for the future goes, we couldn't agree more. Netil are a slightly psychedelic alt-rock four-piece from London.

Listen to Maui's favourite track, 'Is There Something In Your Eye' below:

NO ONE CARES WHAT YOU THINK, BUT LEAVE A COMMENT ANYWAY

Way back in 2015 we asked Plastic Mermaids the only questions that matter.

There's more than a little nostalgia in the power-psych of Fez. We asked them the all important questions just in time for the release of their latest single.

Krush Puppies' latest medieval-tinged murder ballad is a grubby, fuzzy attention-grabber.
