Distortion, fuzz and raucous vocals is what springs to mind when listening to Mothers. They tunefully transition from indie rock to heavy alternative rock in a matter of seconds. The epic drumming, gritty vocals and ingenious hooks from their previous releases suggests that these guys are on to something. What that something is we don’t quite know, but whatever it is, it will be worth the wait. Get excited.

Raw Meat: Tell us about your local music scene; what’s your favourite local venue, are there any record labels or stores we should look up, what’s the scene like where you’re from?
Mothers: Our nearest local music scene is Liverpool. We wouldn’t be anywhere without its varied music scene. Liverpool is where we had our first gig as Aeroplane Flies High, where we built up our name and got to know lots of bands. Now, venues are being shut down, making it harder for smaller bands to get gigs. Amazingly though, we have Maguire's Pizza Bar, a super cool bar, pizza place turned DIY venue. This is the place for upcoming bands. The pizza is unbelievable too and caters for all. This is our favourite venue and we’re playing there with Hawk Eyes on 12.02.15 and our own show with a killer line up (Mothers, Stilts, Super Luxury and La Bete Blooms) on 05.04.15!We have Probe Records that does all sorts. I got a cool Girlpool record from there too.Liverpool is home to LIPA so there’s lots of bands out there. A few I can think of are Scouts, The Bendal Interlude, Iron Witch, Kusanagi and Alpha Male Tea Party.
Name one track or band that you love from the past.
I love 'Master Dolorosa' by Babes In Toyland. It’s so creepy, catchy and super Melvins actually! More importantly it’s Babes In Toyland – the best band EVER!
Name one track or band that you’re loving right now.
I find it really hard to get into new music but I really love Honeyblood at the minute, they’re great!
Name one track or band that you think we should listening out for in the future.
Stilts! An amazing pysch-indie band from Barnoldswick, they’re amazing… and we’re going on tour with them in the summer.
What are you up to now?
Me personally? I’m sat on my bed doing this interview, then I’m going to crochet and then uni… but as a band we’re doing a photoshoot and interview tonight for Bido Lito which should be out in March. We’re also writing new music, perfecting new songs, trying to come up with new ones for the album, booking gigs and planning tours!
What can we expect from you next?
A lovely album on vinyl, as we know 6535449 people want our music on vinyl. Before the album there will be single and another crazy video. But whilst waiting for that, we’ll be playing lots of gigs!
