Ritual Union 2019

The first announcement for the third installment of Oxford’s Ritual Union is here. And it’s a good’un.

We all know that it’s a rookie mistake to jump to conclusions on a line-up based on the headliner, but with Ritual Union 2019 we can’t help but have our hopes skyrocket. Topping the bill are ever-charming Teleman. With three fantastic albums to their name, the four-piece are a formidable force of affable, melodious indie records.

Luckily, our premature judgement continues to hold strength as we cast our eyes further down the line-up. Newcastle noise giants Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs will be blowing the minds and eardrums of the Oxford crowd off the back of mighty 2018 album King Of Cowards. Idles’ bezzie mates and fellow Bristol post-punks Heavy Lungs will also be bringing their raw fervour to the festival.

The Murder Capital are an absolute must-see. Having just announced debut album When I Have Fears for this coming August, the five-some are set to continue their upward trajectory. Don’t miss their emotive, riff-laden splendour while you still have the chance.

Hunky-dory cheeky chappies Trudy and the Romance are also a real treat from the Ritual Union organisers. A boogie to their bopping love songs is bound to be something special.

All this from a first announcement? Oh Ritual Union, you do spoil us.

Primavera 2022, somewhat of a bumper year. A double rollover. Plus the return to the midweek city-based shows, means things are bigger and better than ever.

A double rollover means the biggest festival to date, with not one weekend, not two weekends, but an additional midweek lineup to boot.

Last week already seems like a different age, full of carefree optimism.
